Description

There are a lot of great tourniquets on the market but their size can make them awkward or difficult to carry, especially in a daily or concealed fashion directly on your person.

The Everyday Carry Tourniquet (ETQ™) is compact, roughly the size of a small multi-tool, and fits comfortably into your pocket making it easy to have on you at all times.

The Gen 2 ETQ™ builds on the proven Gen 1 design with input from military, EMS, law enforcement, and civilian users. It retains a compact form while introducing three patent-pending upgrades — Power Curve™, Tri-Grip Windlass™, and Power Ring™ — for safer, easier application. Additional improvements include a straighter body, stronger band, and enlarged carabiner lock. A QR-coded instruction guide supports untrained responders.

Smallest Limb Diameter:  The ETQ™ has a unique design that allows it to constrict down to a 1” diameter making it suitable for use on adults, children, and canines.

Note on TQ width: The ETQ™ measures 37.5” long by 1” wide. Many people believe the gold standard TQ is wider than it actually is. However, If you closely examine one you’ll see that it’s only a 1” piece of webbing doing the constricting. Try it for yourself. Constrict your TQ across a foam roller and leave it for 30 minutes. Come back and measure the imprints. You’ll notice the width only measures 1”. A 1” functional width gets the job done and has been trusted for years.

Gen 2 Features:

Power Curve™ *Patent Pending:

The slot where the band is pulled through is curved, unlike other tourniquets. This shape spreads the load placed on the band when tight, focusing the tension in the center. With straight slots, the band is actually tighter on the edges than it is in the center, uneven pressure could result in permanent tissue damage after a prolonged use case.

New Tri-Grip Windlass™ *Patent Pending:

The three flat surfaces per-side give your fingers more surface area and geometrical advantage while twisting the windlass over a traditional rod shape. Rod shape windlasses are inherently slippery - there will be a lot of blood when you go to apply a tourniquet. Although grippy, in our testing we found some windlasses can actually be over-textured and can result in the tearing of nitrile gloves exposing you to the patient's blood. The windlass is made out of a high strength polymer composite that will not break on you like that of Chinese knock off tourniquets.

Power Ring™ *Patent Pending:

The new steel ring under the windlass makes it one of the easiest tourniquets to turn in the industry. Typically, the first two turns of the windlass on tourniquets are the hardest. We aimed to improve that. The ring creates vertical space to clear the carabiner and provides a mechanical advantage for the initial twist of the windlass.

Improved tourniquet body:

The longer body and improved routing keeps the tourniquet in a straighter configuration even if the user doesn’t fully tighten the strap first as instructed. The only negative reviews we’ve seen on the Gen 1 were due to user error when they didn’t first fully tighten the band, or didn’t reset the TQ after repeated usage. You MUST tighten the band of any tourniquet first before twisting the windlass.

Carabiner lock enlarged:

Although the gate is the same size the inside of the carabiner lock is enlarged  significantly to make it easier to stow the windlass especially after a lot of windlass turns.

Reinforced band material:

The Gen 2 band is now backed with a webbing that gives more rigidity and prevents it from folding in half and sticking to itself during the application process. It also aids the user in lassoing the TQ around a limb and threading the needle.

Quality TQ

Never EDC'd a CAT because I never had room. With the sleve on, this fits well in a front pocket. About the size of a compact pistol magazine. I've read concerns about the fact that it's only 1 inch wide and is less comfortable than a full sized CAT. It works, completely constricts and since it's small I am carrying it every day. Won't matter how good it is if you don't carry it. Socializing it with my retired LEOSA network, feedback is all positive so far. Our annual pistol requal is in 2 weeks and will show it off there. I expect a lot of enthusiasm.

Game changer for EDC

The size (or lackthereof) of this TQ makes it infinitely more convenient to carry, both EDC and in my hunting pack.
